The state of Wyoming in the US is not jam-packed full of ski resorts. However with a population of only about 500,000 people, you don’t have to compete with too many of the locals for fresh tracks.
The two highest profile ski resorts in Wyoming are Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee.
Jackson Hole is large with over 1,000 hectares of skiing terrain and 1,261 metres of vertical. It’s got a reputation for extreme terrain, tight couloirs and the infamous Mangy Moose bar. Over the other side of the Tetons,
Grand Targhee is located near the Idaho border and is well known for the light, dry and abundant snowfall across 800 hectares of ski terrain.
On a much smaller scale are various low-key resorts that offer good value for money and the same great powder. They only have an area of 30-160 hectares, but there are no crowds to fight off. There is plenty of beginner terrain at Snowy Range and White Pine. On the other hand, Hogadon has lots of expert terrain. Ditto for Snow King which looms over Jackson and also has night skiing on offer. Big Horn has an even spread of terrain for differing abilities. Other low profile resorts to check out are Antelope Butte, Sleeping Giant, Snowy Range, and Pine Creek.
