The Canyons

The Canyons resort is one of three ski resorts in the Park City area, Utah. Known under plenty of other guises in previous years, it has retained the name “The Canyons” from 1997. Since that time, the resort has undergone significant transformation with nearly every lift, building and amenity replaced or improved. It is now a super mega-resort with eight mountain peaks, and almost 1,500 hectares of terrain – it’s one of the largest ski areas in the US.
The ski terrain provides plenty of diversity for all ability levels but with a bias towards the advanced and expert rider. There is easily accessed out-of-bounds skiing, but there’s enough in-bounds terrain such that you don’t need to ski the same run twice. The natural terrain includes bowls, tree skiing, steeps, and lots of long cruisers. Snowboarders are definitely welcome at The Canyons, and with many half-pipes and two terrain parks, there’s plenty on offer for shredders.
Accommodation at The Canyons resort is somewhat limited, but is of great quality and is conveniently located slope-side. Some visitors to The Canyons stay in Park City which is only a few kilometres away, and is easily accessed by a free shuttle service. There is more variety of lodgings in Park City as well as nightlife, dining and shopping opportunities.
The Canyons is worthy of its mega-resort status - heaps and heaps of terrain, great quality facilities, and of course the snow. Along with other Utah ski resorts, it’s got the “Greatest Snow on Earth”.
