Kamui Links
Kamui Links is a fantastic little resort which is cheap and has plenty of opportunities for powder skiing. A very relaxed approach to off-piste and tree skiing is a major plus for Kamui Links, as are the out-of-bounds areas that are easily accessible via the lift system. There are also great groomers and runs for beginners. It’s definitely worth spending three to four days at Kamui Links.
Kamui Links is only 20 minutes from downtown
Asahikawa, and is easily accessible via shuttle bus or car.
Furano is a little further away, but is also commonly used as a base for Kamui Links.
This resort has a reputation for being quiet, but occasionally there were long queues for the gondola and the groomed runs were busy with school children and army groups. Nevertheless, it’s easy to see why this resort has the reputation of quietness. Away from the groomed runs there were very few people, and even on the days when tour groups arrived from Furano (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday), there were plenty of fresh tracks to be ripped up.
Kamui Links is a small no-frills resort with no associated town or accommodation. The facilities of the resort include a few on-mountain restaurants, a basic shop, and very limited rental and ski school services. Needless to say there are also plenty of vending machines, and you’ll need to rely on these if you want to partake in an après drink.
Cash is king at Kamui Links so don’t depend on your credit card. You can’t even use plastic to purchase lift tickets, but thankfully they are super cheap, so you won’t have to part with too much cash.
